Zoom H4essential Field Recording Starter Set – Location Sound Without Setting a Level

A 32-bit float recorder that cannot clip, a shotgun mic that runs 150 hours on its own battery and the closed headphones found on every film set. Interviews, ambiences and acoustic takes, out of the bag and recording.

In This Setup

• Zoom H4essential – 4-track handheld recorder with 32-bit float capture up to 96 kHz, onboard X/Y stereo microphones rated to 130 dB SPL, 2 XLR/TRS combo inputs, a 4-in/2-out USB-C audio interface mode, waveform display and up to 10 hours on 2 AA batteries; tripod mount.
• Rode NTG4+ – broadcast shotgun condenser with a built-in rechargeable battery (up to 150 hours), digital switching for high-pass filter and pad, ultra-low self-noise; RM5 clip, foam windshield, Micro-USB cable and pouch included.
• Sony MDR-7506 – closed-back monitoring headphones with 40 mm neodymium drivers, 10 Hz-20 kHz, folding design, soft pouch and 6.3 mm adapter.

Why This Combination

• No gain to miss: 32-bit float keeps a whisper and a shout on the same take.
• No phantom drain: the NTG4+ powers itself, so the recorder keeps its 10 hours.
• Hear what the mic hears: the MDR-7506 isolates enough to judge wind and handling noise on location.

Set price includes all three products; XLR cable sold separately.
