Grado Signature S150 – Open-Back Headphones, Signature Sound

The Grado Signature S150 is the most accessible way into Grado's Signature Line. It takes the paper-composite driver technology developed for the flagship S950 and HP100 SE and scales it into a new 44 mm S driver, housed in a single-piece open-back design. The result is the clarity and detail the Signature models are known for, with a full-bodied, musical presentation and a light 220 g build. At Soundium it sits as the natural first step for listeners who want Brooklyn-tuned open-back sound without stepping up to the larger Signature models.

Key Features

  • New 44 mm S Driver: Paper-composite diaphragm based on the 52 mm S drivers of the S950 and HP100 SE, tuned for detail and a full-bodied tone.
  • Open-Back Acoustic Design: Open air operating principle for a spacious, natural presentation.
  • Single-Piece Housing: An entirely new housing that gives the classic Grado look a cleaner, more contemporary finish.
  • Updated Signature Headband Assembly: Padded leather headband, matte-black polymer gimbals, stainless-steel height rods and reinforced junction blocks.
  • Detachable Signature Bronze Cable: Dual 3.5 mm sockets on the cups make the cable easy to replace or upgrade.
  • Works With All Grado Cushions: Ships with F cushions and accepts the full range of Grado replacement cushions for tuning comfort and sound.

Customer Benefits

The S150 brings Grado's latest driver generation to a price point that has so far been reserved for the Prestige Series. With 38 Ω impedance and 104 dB sensitivity, it is easy to drive from a desktop DAC, a headphone amplifier or a good portable player, so it does not need a dedicated high-power setup to sound right. The detachable cable and cushion compatibility mean the headphones can grow with you: swap cushions to adjust the tonal balance, or replace the cable instead of the whole pair.

Compatibility

Works with headphone amplifiers, DACs, hi-fi systems and portable players via the 3.5 mm plug and included 6.3 mm adapter. Compatible with Grado replacement cushions and Signature detachable cables.

Pros & Cons

✅ Pros:

  • Signature Line driver technology at the most accessible point in the range
  • Light 220 g build for long sessions
  • Easy to drive with 38 Ω impedance and 104 dB sensitivity
  • Detachable cable and full Grado cushion compatibility

⚠️ Cons:

  • Open-back design leaks sound and offers little isolation
  • On-ear fit with F cushions will not suit everyone; larger cushions are sold separately

The Grado Signature S150 delivers the energy and openness that define Grado, now in a lighter, more approachable Signature model. If you want to hear what the Signature Line is about, you will find it at Soundium.
